Xerxes' Final Offer
Label: Warner Records
Though it makes a good pair with the over-the-top gore and glory of the film 300, Tyler Bates' soundtrack was the subject of a great deal of controversy after its release. Bates borrows liberally from Elliot Goldenthal's 1999 score to Titus, making certain parts nearly identical. On its own, the score dishes out plenty of big-screen drama with bold string swells and hard-driving percussion, even if it offers little original material.
