Über Penetration

To state that Penetration have been forgotten by even the most die-hard Punk enthusiasts is, without a doubt, overstating things a bit. After all, the band's first release, the wholly unapologetic call-to-arms "Don't Dictate," has unfailingly made it onto almost every Old-School Punk compilation to date. Much of their subsequent kinder, gentler, and indisputably tamer output has, however, unfortunately faded into the dim recesses of obscurity. Led by feisty siren Pauline Murray, the band marched into public view in 1977 by bashing out one of the best Punk anthems to date, musically holding up their collective index fingers to authority in the process. While their debut would prove to be less dynamic -- they took a sharp turn towards the less confrontational world of New Wave -- their contribution of one great song (and arguably a handful more) to the world of Punk can't be denied.
