Mac Miller has great taste in collaborators. His guests on Watching Movies include Earl Sweatshirt, Jay Electronica and Action Bronson, as well as producers like Flying Lotus for "SDS" and Pharrell Williams for "Objects in the Mirror." But he struggles to rise to the occasion, eventually landing somewhere between frat-rap dumbness like "suck my d*ck before I slap you with it" on "Gees," and heartfelt lyrics such as on the Clams Casino-produced "Remember." When he ends it with the tuneless singing of "Youforia," it's hard not to wonder if Mac Miller often succeeds in spite of himself.
