Although this album helped to usher in a new era of folk songwriters, there's barely an acoustic guitar to be found on this album. Sweetly orchestrated with strings and horns, this is baroque pop at its most fluid and austere. Collins' ear for a great song brought new ears to the then mostly unknown songs of Leonard Cohen and Joni Mitchell.
