That Girl

Nettles has always drawn as much from rock as from country -- after all, her first chart-topper was a Bon Jovi duet -- but this record, her major label solo debut, is particularly down the middle, produced by Rick Rubin and closing with her take on Bob Seger's "Like a Rock." While it certainly has some good tracks -- "Moneyball" has the singer contemplating her insignificance in the face of "Mother Nature and the market," and "Me Without You" is everything a break-up tune should be -- it serves best at really just building anticipation for the next Sugarland LP. Who says you can't go home?
